in our area. The elderly would fill out the ballot and two election officials would enter it into the machine (we had mechanical voting machines back then) to ensure it was done properly.

In 2012 right after my second knee replacement in three months, I went to vote in the primaries while still using a walker. My husband dropped me off at the door. The election officials had someone outside who escorted me straight in, sat me down while they took my ID and got my ballot for me. I had to stand to sign the electronic pad but could sit while filling out the ballot.

By the time my husband had parked the car and waited in line, I was finished voting and was sitting on a bench in the foyer of the library. I waited for him to vote and while he brought the car to the front.
