In Michigan, it's the responsibility of the local clerk's office to do that.
"Each year there are at least two-elections.
Some of the election support activities the Clerk's Office performs on a routine basis includes:
Set up and take down of voting machines at the polls
Maintaining a list of election chairpersons and inspectors and insuring they are competently trained
Processing absentee voter applications and ballots
Reporting voting results to the County Clerk of each polling place, including the absentee vote which is counted by a separate counting board"

I don't know if it's done the same way in Georgia and who would be responsible for that one polling place not having power cords for the voting machines.

The power cord issue was likely an oversight by volunteers who work elections, especially considering that District has a county government dominated by Democrats. I think the power cord issue happened in NYC today, as well. Crud happens, but was quickly rectified.

(13,081 posts)The County Clerk still sets things up and runs things atctge local level, but with the advent of the Information Age, those details arent quite as important as they were. Nevada doesnt have specific polling locations anymore. As long as youre in your home county, you can vote at any polling location. We close all the schools on Election Day, so virtually every public school in the state is a polling location. Convenient to home or work or leisure: you can vote anywhere. Over 40% of us voted early at malls or the library or the supermarket.
