If they say, too early to call, it means the exit polling favored one side or the other, but since there are no votes yet, they don't make a call because the exit polling could be wrong.

if the exit polling were showing one person ahead and there was no vote, they'd say too early.

(60,536 posts)I have over 55 years experience working with the media on election night. Hotly contested races such as in Georgia, are never called within nano-seconds of the polls closing. However, you happily continue to believe your understanding of the term "too close to call" when used in reference to hotly contested races, and I will believe my experience based understanding.
