Rob was "only" running for State Auditor, but that is a big deal in Iowa.
Plus, Rob is only in his mid-thirties. Look for him to shoot for the House or even maybe to challenge Joni Ernst for the Senate.
From the Des Moines Register this morning:
"The party wasnt just investing money. U.S. Sen. Cory Booker of New Jersey sent a staffer to work Sand's campaign, U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts sent fundraising emails on his behalf and Govs. Steve Bullock of Montana and Martin O'Malley of Maryland campaigned for Sand."
If I can crow for a moment in an otherwise (for a Texan) somber moment, I like to think I had a small hand in that. I had lunch with Rob in D.C. last April, and I said he really needed some national muscle. He asked who? I said he really needed to talk to Howard Dean. He said, umm, sure, how do I do that? I called up Howard and handed the phone to Rob and they spoke for half an hour (Howard NEVER has half an hour, later said he was really impressed). Obviously someone talked to someone for big guns like that to get involved in the race for Iowa State Auditor. Howard and Jim Dean do not get involved in races like that unless they see national potential down the road, and I think Rob has it (he needs to let his hair grow out a bit like Beto).
I have never been to Iowa, but I think meeting him for lunch in Washington was NOT a one-time happening.

Last night was our minute. We are fortunate to have Colin Allred replace him.
