Neil Young on Trump: "This man does not represent the character of the people in the U.S.A."

Neil Young Slams Trump Over ‘Rockin’ in the Free World’ Again

Young had criticized Trump for playing the song during his 2015 presidential campaign, saying he was actually a supporter of Democratic candidate Bernie Sanders. Two days later, the Trump campaign said, “We will respect [Young’s] wish and not use it because it’s the right thing to do.”

Responding to Trump’s continued use of the 1989 classic, Young wrote on his website, “DT does not have my permission to use the song ‘Rockin’ in the Free World’ at his appearances. Legally, he has the right to, however, it goes against my wishes. I made this perfectly clear after he played it in a media moment to announce his candidacy. I asked him then, in a widely shared public letter to cease and desist.

“However, he chose not to listen to my request, just as he chooses not to listen to the many American voices who ask him to stop his constant lies, to stop his petty, nasty name calling and bullying, to stop pushing his dangerous, vilifying and hateful rhetoric.”

Young added that “this man does not represent the character of the people in the U.S.A. that I have come to know and love.”

You're right...he's got his base, and until they personally feel any negative impact, they'll remain his base.

Plus, I've posted stories on DU about farmers who are suffering and still "support" him.

My brother in law has what I think is a common attitude among Trump supporters. He is retired, receiving Social Security. But he also had a job with the city of San Francisco that resulted in a fat retirement package and "Rolls Royce" healthcare. He had a small tumor removed from his neck. The bill was $25,000. He didn't pay a penny, including deductibles. He has hearing aids...two $950 each models, one in each ear...that he gets replaced at no cost every two years.

When I said something about Mitch McConnell and Social Security / Medicare / Medicaid, without missing a beat, he said "As long as it doesn't affect me personally, I don't care."

And yes, sad to say, he and my sister are both extremely racist and fully aboard the Trump train.

I think the sooner dems get that through their heads the better.

I'm tired of this unrealistic view of Americans. If you look at heavily poplulated areas in both red and blue states that is the bulk of Americans. But when you look at the shit holes surrounding those areas they are filled with shitty people and unfortunately there are too many of them.
