Re: Whitaker's conflicts-of-interest/recusal-need b/c of being Sam Clovis's 2014 campaign manager...

It is important to remember who Sam Clovis is vis-a-vis the Mueller investigation.

The articles and pundits who refer to Clovis merely as "a witness in the Mueller probe" are absolutely understating the level of conflict of interest (there have been dozens if not hundreds of witnesses) and thereby doing a gross disservice to their readers/listeners, if not purposely misinforming them.

Sam Clovis was involved in Trump's campaign from its earliest days, and when Trump started getting questions about who was advising him on foreign policy (due to his obvious ignorance and lack of experience), SAM CLOVIS drew up the list of foreign policy advisors. That initial list had 5 names, two of which were CARTER PAGE and GEORGE PAPADOPOULOS.

Whitaker has a close political relationship with a CENTRAL witness and SUBJECT of the Russia collusion and counterintelligence investigation (another besides Trump, I mean). That's why he should have to recuse. He will be violating DOJ guidelines, by any reasonable interpretation of them, if he does not.

None of this can make him recuse. He should, but he won't. NT enough Nov 2018 #1
