We are a majority center-left country being forced to allow a minority to rule us.
I don't think that is tenable in the long run.

i've been looking at this as a part of a research paper. there is an overwhelming majority on one side and a small minority on one side, and that's characterized as "divided." I don't think "divided" is the proper term. I think insurgency is more accurate, but may be too provacactive.
