Mitch McConnell To Block Bill To Protect Robert Mueller

Senate Majority Leader Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) is going to block a bill to protect Robert Mueller by not allowing it to come up for a vote.

McConnell said of the bill to protect Mueller, “It’s not necessary. The Mueller investigation is not under threat. The president’s said repeatedly he’s not going to dismiss the Mueller investigation. He’s said repeatedly it’s going to be allowed to finish. That also happens to be my view. As you can imagine, we speak frequently, and there’s never been any indication that he wants to dismiss Mueller or the investigation. It’s going to be allowed to finish.”

Trump just installed a man to be his attorney general who claims that there is no evidence that Russia interfered in the 2016 election. Trump also has tried to fire the Special Counsel on numerous previous occasions, so there is definitely a looming to the Robert Mueller’s Russia investigation.

Mitch McConnell already knows that Trump isn’t going to try to fire Mueller, but that the endgame is to put Whitaker in place to smother the investigation so that it grinds to a halt.

The best course of action to get legislation to protect Mueller though Congress appears to be the path that House Democrats are considering, and that is to block the government funding bill that has to be passed by December 7 unless it contains legislation to protect the Special Counsel investigation.

Mitch McConnell has already shown over and over again that he places country last, so if members of Congress are going to save the investigation, they are going to have to overcome the Senate Majority Leader.

conspiracy theory or another. However, in McConnell's case I have to believe that he knows he will be in legal jeopardy if Mueller is allowed to complete his investigation. If for no other reason than illegal campaign contributions and conspiracy. Maybe more.

hostile invader of the US. And he creates an environment wherein many are starting to say the senate is useless and should be eliminated. He is doing his best to rip this country to shreds and apparently welcomes espionage and criminality.

Therefore, it would be frivolous to allow a vote by the City Council on increasing the security detail for the Judge!

He will probably retire just to deny us the pleasure of beating his ass.

2018 showed Trump has likely peaked. McConnell has control of SCOTUS and wouldn't lose it by Trump going down.

However, he is trying to shield the GOP Senators. Forcing them to vote on this risks alienating Trump's base and as you say put country first.

The cynic in me thinks he might actually be daring Trump to dump Mueller. Personally I think McConnell would be happy to see Trump self-destruct.

She knew McConnell would put the kibosh on the bill. "Well I tried" she can always say, when she pretended McConnell duped her on earlier legislation.
