I went cold turkey a few times but it's held for years now.

They didn't have vaping when I quit.

When I first started vaping in 2013, I cut down on cigs from a pack and a half a day to a mere 6. Within a month, I completely stopped smoking and over a 5-year period, cut back on the nicotine from 24mg/ml to a mere 3mg. I'm about to cut the nic back a 1.5mg.

I took one drag off my first e-cig and never smoked again. That was in 2011. There's a bit of a learning curve and you have to spring for a decent e-cig, the disposable ones at the corner store are really awful.

Some people will rag on you if you don't do it the way they think you should, and say stuff like "Cold turkey is the only way!" Fuck those people. The right way is the way that works for you.

a vaping kit. I stopped smoking cigarettes immediately. Since then I’ve had, maybe, five cigarettes. My nicotine level started at 24, is now at 12. Vaping will help! Now I can smell the chemicals on people from their cigarette smoking. Funny how I never noticed that when I smoked. It’s a nasty smell. I smoked a few drags off a cig a few weeks ago. I had to get rid of it after two puffs. Then I used mouthwash to get the nasty cigarette taste/breath out of my mouth. After not having any cigarettes for 3 years and then doing that tells me I’m done with tobacco FOR GOOD. Good luck to you on quitting! Cigarettes now make me 🤢🤮!!

the Chantix thing after 40 years of smoking. Made it through cold turkey. I did have a strong desire to quit at that time also. Anywhere I would normally light up, puter, car, etc, etc, I would have a box of sugar free mints available. Had to buy them at Costco, but hey,,it worked!

Good Luck!!!!!

nothing worked until Chantix. For me it was magical in removing nicotine cravings.

I had no problems with side-effects. I've been nicotine-free since Jan 2012.

My sister in law was a confirmed smoker for over 30 years, and someone I thought would smoke herself into her grave. She went to an Allen Carr seminar, without any intention of quitting. They encourage people to take cigarette breaks, and she had one ciggie, and hasn't smoked since. That was over a decade ago.

Here is how I did it - I waited until I just could not stand the craving anymore, then I vaped 12 puffs. No more, no less. Vaping isn't the same as smoking a cig, you will still want one. When I just couldn't stop myself I smoked 1/2 of one. I didn't trust myself to stop at 1/2 so I cut it in 1/2 crushed the end and only smoked the 1/2 with the filter. Gradually I didn't even need to smoke 1/2. I started smoking but not inhaling. Just holding the real deal, seeing the smoke, the sensation in my mouth was enough. I took about 2 weeks to rely solely on the vape.
I started with 12mg of nicotine and by March 1st I was down to 3mg. I started vaping less. 12 puffs became 6, then 3 and by April I wasn't using it at all. I carried it around for 3 months, just in case I was about to smoke a real cig. Never did. Won't again.

YOU CAN DO THIS!!

Really appreciate the help, however the vape thingy is not for me as taking a pill.
It's a mind over matter deal, just need to over power the cravings perhaps with chips or sweets,,,who knows??
This will be hard as I do not drink or do other drugs.

I kept Tootsie Roll Pops around so I had something to do with my hands & to put in my mouth. Plus there was a Tootsie Roll payoff in the middle. It helped me a lot.

I think the big thing was making up my mind to do it. Good luck!

doing great and think I was in the clear. When determined, the nicotine withdrawal didn't even seem so bad. Then even a few months off the shit and the overwhelming urge would hit, as if I had just quit the night before. That screwed me a couple times. I then went into it knowing to not give in to that if and when it happened. I had to talk myself down from going and buying a pack a few times, but that passes after just a little while and if you hold out, you're still good!

Find a good local vape shop. Start with a tobacco flavored juice. Don’t go too cheap on the vape pod.
