@Lawrence
This is Matthew Whitakers Dirty Harry moment.
You gotta ask yourself one question: Do I feel lucky?
Is Whitaker feeling lucky enough to commit obstruction of justice for Trump with Justice Dept prosecutors & FBI agents watching his every move.

(22 posts)Fun fact? "Dirty Harry" is loosely based on the Zodiac killings, which largely took place in the S.F. Bay area. The movie's bad guy was named "Scorpio", and the bus scene at the end reflected Zodiac's stated intent in a few of his many letters to L.E. and the newspapers to blow up a school bus.
Most folks don't remember this, but in the iconic robbery scene at the beginning of the movie, our man Harry is eating a sandwich for much of the time that he's engaging in the shoot-out.
Taken as a whole, it is underrated as a film, with fine directing and cinematography. The zoom out shot overhead Kezar Stadium is particularly haunting.
As for Whitaker, I wouldn't think he'd be dumb enough to risk obstruction of justice charges, but then again, I wouldn't have thought he be foolish enough to take the job in the first place, given some of the issues he brings to the table ....

(14,966 posts)he's prepared to go to federal prison for violating 18 USC 1512.
I'd like to see if he recognizes it. (FYI it's an obstruction of justice statute)

(32,634 posts)If and when Rosenstein gets fired or reassigned, then we can start worrying about what Whitaker will do. But in the meantime Rosenstein is in charge until at least January, and we don't know if the new incoming Senate Judicial Committee will even approve Whitaker. A lot of "ifs" and "maybes" between now and January.
