I believe the real reason he skipped the ceremony was because of his hair. No way could that cotton candy stuff stand up to sustained drizzle.

(26,260 posts)Some still folded up in those little plastic cases. I don't think EITHER of them ever went out without one of those in their purse.

(30,736 posts)We were just discussing that here.
What would be wrong with a fedora or some other head covering? I wear a hat most of the time, just because I like hats.

(32,080 posts)I have seen various people point that out since posting. I could be a huge mess. Might get rid of those ridiculous reverse raccoon eyes of his. What a fucking clown.

(32,080 posts)I think that's actually the REAL reason he wouldn't risk going out in the rain.
Between the shellacked hair and fake tan, too much time in the rain could be Trump's worst nightmare. Would be fun to watch though.

(46,166 posts)We all had them. I didn't always carry an umbrella, though. When storms hit, guys selling umbrellas would pop up like mushrooms. That was mostly in big office or shopping districts. You could always pick up one real cheap.

(42,770 posts)was a train ride in .but I always thought.. some day I would live in NYC. Back then, we would go even at 13 and it was so exciting. At like 16,? we would come in and they would serve us at the bar in Grand Central..Rusty Nails...gross now. Do you still live in NYC? Been everywhere since then ...still greatest city on earth!!

(46,166 posts)Been here in CO ever since. I took it for granted that I could drive into Manhattan, park my VW and walk to the big museums or shop in Chinatown on a Saturday morning. It was great.
But when city finances were going belly up in the mid 70s I left for greener pastures out here. It was a good decision but I still miss the ocean. I grew up like 10 minutes from the beaches - sigh.
Rusty Nails at Grand Central! It was easy to get served with fake id in local bars but if I'd known about Grand Central! Those were the days.
I remember taking the el train into the city at 13, too, but from Queens. These days, I don't know.

(4,723 posts)She even wore them sometimes when it wasn't raining, though usually it was one of those thin filmy headscarves. Not sure what those are made of, some kind of meshy sythetic material. Oh well, she didn't leave the house without a headscarf or a rain bonnet. Donald Trump would look like even more of an idiot with one of those old rain bonnets.

(4,723 posts)She used a silver rinse on her hair. It had to stay dry, or the coloring would come out. Heh, they used one of those rinses on her hair once, that came out that stereotypical blue, and she had a fit about it.
