Effects of gerrymandering on NC House delegation

NC has 13 seats in the House.

1 seat was uncontested and held by a Republican

There were 12 seats contested and 9 (75%) were won by Republicans

The vote in those 12 districts was 1,748,173 (51.5%) Dem and 1,643,790 Repub (48.5%)

So the Repubs got 75% of the seats with slightly less than 50% of the vote. Essentially, Dems were screwed out of 3 seats and should have had 6. This is happening all across the country and the reason why we netted many fewer seats than the Republicans did when they won elections by similar margins. This has to be a priority to fix in those states where we now have the majority or by challenges in court.
