(118,880 posts)genocide can't continue. Head war criminals know that if they send the janjaweed or army out to burn/rape/kill villagers there will be footage of it from satellites above. The dessert does not lie or give cover. But unfortunately there is oil in Darfur so non arab viĺlages are coveted by the Government. So far Clooney threat has calmed the ethnic cleansing down amongst many other measures. But the genocide continues. Who knows what the psychological benefit is of Khartoum thinking they are being watched are. Clooney is fighting for justice in one way or another. Admirable.

(155 posts)Single use coffee pods use no recycled plastics and are completely unrecyclable or degradable. The former CEO of Nestle has admitted that these pods are the most eniromentally harmful packages ever invented.
To suggest that images from a privately funded surveillance programme, without any regulatory authority backing, would form the basis of a prosecution for war crimes is absurd.
In the meantime Clooney, whether he keeps the money or not, promotes an extraordinarily stupid and harmful product.
And the coffee tastes like crap. Screw Clooney. Drink real coffee made from a beans out of a paper bag. Minimal waste and much better taste.

(118,880 posts)you fight aggressors too. Maybe they film just a few times a week. And I'm sorry but footage from civilians is used all the time in courts war crimes courts. It works on many levels. Well worth it. And all he has to do is sell coffee makers. Incidentally there is much much less wasted actual coffee because of those pods. Used to be a family would make a full pot and half of it would sit there all day. That is a footprint that has gone down. Bad for coffee farmers. But good for the environment if the world uses a third less coffee at home.
