Growing criticism of Trump WW1 no-show

A British minister has appeared to join growing criticism of US President Donald Trump's decision to miss a memorial event on Saturday due to rain.

Defence Minister Tobias Ellwood took an apparent swipe at the president on Twitter, saying "rain did not prevent our brave heroes from doing their job".

The US president also received backlash from Americans, like former diplomat Nicholas Burns, who said it was the leader's duty to honour their soldiers.

Ben Rhodes, who served as a deputy national security adviser under former US President Barack Obama, also hit back saying weather was not an excuse.

I'm glad trump continues to get called out on his fragility and laziness.

My grandfather had some accident in basic training or something, which ended any aspirations of fighting abroad.

When I was growing up, we heard friendly fire from a grazed bullet. But recently, my brother told me he got in a bar fight.

Nevertheless he became a member of the local VFW and got a life time of free medical care from the VA. (According to him, the greatest things since sliced bread)

And he became a US Citizen. (I think that is why he enlisted)

He was sure proud to be a Vet, he even though his stint was very short.

My grandfather made it to France, but was sent home after being kicked by an Army mule. He had pain the rest of his life for that.

The ones TrumPutin dishonored the most are those who never made it back home. He couldn't risk getting his delicate hair damp to pay tribute to their sacrifice.

May the world forgive us for that parasite in our White House.

plus his lack of sleep following Tuesday’s election, combined with the flight to France seriously impacted the 71 year old tRump. He is very likely exhausted with good reason. But he would never admit that as he would view that as an admission of weakness, instead of the natural consequences of pushing yourself to the limit of your capacity.

He most likely did not really want to make the appearance at the ceremony at the cemetery. He knew it was never going to be about him and nothing he could do would change that. If he was actually committed to attending, he’d have made every effort to sleep in flight and go regardless of how he looked or felt. But he couldn’t muster the ability to do that and came up with the lame excuse that it was the weather. It definitely did not show him as a strong leader but rather as a delicate, out of shape blowhard. True colors if there ever was a sign to reveal them.

Not like he had to sit up in coach for the flight to France. Jimmy Carter is 94 and still building houses for Habitat. Trump is weak and lazy.

Is a horse of a different color. Mr. Carter has remained active and vigorous, even in his advanced years. He walks with Roselyn regularly and is not the lazy slug that tRump evidently is. He also seems to have a whole lot of common sense, something tRump is sorely lacking. As I said, anyone else knowing the campaigning he had done and the schedule he’d face in France would have taken advantage of the luxuries on AF 1 and tried to give his body a rest. No matter who you are, the time shift from international travel screws with your body and your brain and tRump SHOULD know that. Instead, I bet he was up looking and posting on Twitter and stewing and fretting. His state of mind before he left was chaotic and he was quite obviously petulant and angry. His lashing out moments before heading for the trip to France was especially nasty — more so than usual.

Not making excuses for that lazy bastard, just stating the facts. If you are already tired from what (for him) was a busy schedule and you probably haven’t slept soundly in days, an international trip would probably really add another layer to the level of exhaustion...even on AF1. But tRump being trump never listens to anyone much less his body. He didn’t want to do the event in the first place and the rain was a handy excuse. Never mind that he looked like a pitiful excuse for a world leader. For once that was the truth! LOL. And he has gotten plenty of blowback for that decision. Serves him right.

Unless it’s a colicky baby .... knees drawn up to his bloated chest, farting and burping and screaming his head off. Hey, wait. I kind of like that image. Makes me smile to think of him like that and from what we’ve been led to believe, this is business as usual for Bluto.

and your brain and tRump SHOULD know that."

Traveling west to east, he was on the beneficial side of international travel with a shortened day. With a luxury flight on AF1, he should have been rested and roaring to go when he landed in France. It'll be the return home when he has to re-live five or so hours that'll be the more difficult leg.

Arriving home, however, he'll have his "executive time" the following morning, while all the reporters who were along - Jim Acosta included - will be up bright and early on the job filing their final reports on the trip.

with fussy children after battling DC traffic to get to the airport. EVERYTHING is done for him. It's quite possible he slept like a tubby orange baby on Air Force One and wasn't "exhausted" at all.
