Barabooo HS students (Twitter)
The photo was shared Sunday night on Twitter by an account called Welcome to Baraboo, and showed dozens of teenage boys wearing tuxedos and making the sieg heil gesture.
The boys were identified as the class of 2019 at Wisconsins Barabook High School, and The Young Turks Jules Suzdaltsev tried to uncover more information about the boys and the photo.
We even got the black kid to throw it up #BarabooProud, the now-deleted account tweeted.
One boy in the middle of the group is making the OK sign that has become associated with white supremacists.

Later I enjoyed the liberal atmosphere of the University of Wisconsin in Madison.
It's a very diverse state politically speaking.

(28,270 posts)To hate and fear,
You've got to be taught
From year to year,
It's got to be drummed
In your dear little ear
You've got to be carefully taught.
You've got to be taught to be afraid
Of people whose eyes are oddly made,
And people whose skin is a diff'rent shade,
You've got to be carefully taught.

(56,828 posts)if they were otherwise eligible? Of, maybe would they be shuffled off to one of the other branches of UW?
I would think most of the other top colleges in the upper Midwest would probably say "no" to him - Univ of Michigan, Notre Dame, Univ of Illinois, etc.

(31,261 posts)All the others either did it or laughed about it. The kids that have non hateful parents should suffer a sound talking to. All of them, except the kid on the top right have negatively impacted the rest of their lives. It is one thing to agree to a group photo, it is another to give a salute to hatred.

(15,940 posts)I looked through the magnifying glass and at the very top left I saw a head behind everyone else. It's as though he didn't want his face seen. And rightfully so.
There were a few other kids not saluting but still showing their faces, some smiling, some not so much.
Blue_true
(31,261 posts)Can barely see his head. Does not look like he is smiling, just doesn't want to be there. Well, two kids will get into the college of their choice, one because he stood and literally said the salute was stupid, the other because he seemed to have wanted nothing to do with the picture at all.

(31,261 posts)Those kids are likely being identified on the web right now. This will follow them for life. People really need to teach their kids not to be followers, some of the kids may be good kids that got wrapped up in something that they should have steadfastly refused to do, only ONE kid seemed to have understood that.
Blue_true

(5,810 posts)These boys need a remedial class in world history but it is doubtful they will. Perhaps the shame and infamy that will follow them forever (given the nature of the internet) might give them something to think about. Sometimes the decisions we make when we are young can have lifelong consequences.

Education would be a wasted effort on these little shits. The only thing that would work is having those grins wiped right off their faces.

But the whole school seems very toxic for normal (non-deplorable human beings). If only some of the stories that have come out since are true, then it's a disgrace for an institution for kids.

(32,455 posts)The photo appears to have originated on photographer Pete Gusts website, Wheel Memories. The page that hosted the photo on the site has since been replaced with a message claiming malevolent behavior by those in society who can and do take the time to be jerks caused the site to remove the photos.
The internet can be a wonderful tool but for some there is an overwhelming urge to destroy, the web page says. The destruction may not be physical but instead it can be bullying that is intellectual or emotional. To anyone that was hurt I sincerely apologize.
Gust could not be reached for comment Monday.
