He wasn't a perfect human being, as anyone who knows about the skeletons in closets...

But nobody can dispute what his positive impact was on the comic universe.

RIP.

I guess it was only a matter time.

I am not that big a comic fan (although my BIL is) and I was surprised that he appeared in "Black Panther" but then shouldn't have been. Not sure if he was somewhere in Infinity Wars or the other Marvels that came after but...

R.I.P. to a legend...

As I understand it, they have several years' worth of cameos, so he will still be around for his fans a long time.

RIP Mr. Lee!

his favorite cameo was in Amazing Spider-Man as a librarian.

1."When I was a kid, I couldn't afford to buy the books I wanted, but three blocks away there was a public library and man, to me it was a magic place."
2. "There was the book. I walk in, I give them the card, they stamp the card, I take the book home, it's mine for a few days and I can read it."
3. "When you have a library card, it's like having a key to all the information in the world."
4. "When you have a library card, you can read anything about anything, and I found whatever you read it doesn't matter--it increases your fund of knowledge."
5. "So a library card is an 'open sesame' to all the knowledge in the world."

I hadn't actually seen Stan for a few years now, as I don't get to L.A. much. However, mutual friends saw him regularly, and told me he was getting dangerously frail. He had been somewhat depressed for a while since his wife died, and he would have been 96 in about 6 weeks.

I still have his memorable plug on the jacket of my book, and I will mis his wit and his heart of gold.

From days gone by, here with my wife and elder daughter:

He used to refer to them as "your fabulous females." He was right.

Lunch in BH:
[IMG][/IMG]
He confirmed that lunch date with an email saying "July 31st, a day which will live in infamy"

And here is a memento that I had him make for DU (Skinner had better still have this!):
[IMG][/IMG]

Stan always kept a stack of "Spidey" cards in one of his desk drawers to autograph for visitors. I asked him to make one for DU, and of course, he did. Stan was always one of us. How could he not be? He was a wise-cracking, intensely funny, generous guy with a heart of gold. In effect, he was what Peter Parker became when he put his mask on. He put more of himself into that character than into any other. If Republican trolls see this, what the hell. It's not like they can do him any more damage now than the Great Dormammu can.

There's no technical reason he couldn't have cameos forever.

That's what I'd do if I was him.
