Then two problems will have been resolved.

(8,090 posts)how "ignored" will he really be? We won the midterms in part thanks to Agolf Twitler -- voters didn't like what spewed forth from those tiny fingers. He's gone off on California during these deadly wildfires and decent Americans -- including firefighters who are risking their lives -- are calling bullshit. He lives in a narcissist's bubble, at least people can respond to him (and his handlers) on Twitter. Kinda like the UN laughing at him during his speech, but via tweets.

(24,467 posts)Cuz he's probably taking a huge personal risk to provide cover for Trump, given his known history of potential wrong doing and prejudiced comments in support of Trump. He'd be smart to recuse himself....which will drive Donald bonkers!

(14,966 posts)why would anyone take this statement to indicate that he is a) going to let them give him genuine un-bullied advice or b) going to follow said untainted advice?
Also, I would not put it past Trumpland to lie about what the ethics advice was, or try to fire/reassign people who give advice they don't like until they find a lackey to give them a bogus fig leaf.

This is like saying the burglar will only take the TV and stereo but leave the jewelry alone. What a relief that would be!

(11,518 posts)Sure, Whitaker will 'meet' with the ethics people, but beyond that nothing. His history with that fake patent company that bilked money from veterans is all the proof needed to indicate how he'll act. He's a greedy scumbag just like Tiny and he'll act accordingly.
there's enough wiggle room for Whitaker to not recuse.

(989 posts)The DOJ ethics peeps will tell him in no uncertain terms that he MUST recuse. IF he ignores that, he is really in trouble. The fact that they told him to recuse WILL come out.

The lesson he should have learned by example after example is that all you get by being willing to take one for the Big Guy is an indictment and an unhallowed place in the hall of forgotten cabinet members and campaign staffers.
