(33,643 posts)More likely, it was pre-planned, and Trump was a no-show, would be my guess.

(128,905 posts)I was hoping that even if it were some lowly staffer rep from the WH would do this (since Pence refused to do it) and yet it was a foreign country.

(155 posts)Guest missions (embassies) always send a delegation to mark significant memorial ceremonies of their host nations.
For example, at the annual ANZAC day services (Australia and New Zealand) which are held all over the world, virtually every other embassy will send their Military Attache (and/or Ambassador) to lay a wreath.
No news here.

He has insulted Gold Star families, POWs, combat PTSD victims. Now he insults the Unknowns.
Disgusting news.

(19,060 posts)This needs to be highlighted, could you imagine the outrage from FOX had Obama decided to ignore Veterans day and just sleep at the White House all day?

France knows history and holds soldiers in high esteem, unlike unmentionable.

I guess Trump is outsourcing his duties to France now.

(22,114 posts)spends his time doing (1) tweets (2) watching TV (3) golf and/or vacations (4) calling his buddies to moan about something (5) having an another campaign rally or the like (6) other crap I haven't thought of at this second...
So in summary, he's absolutely doing nothing if you add up the daily amount of time spent at each of the above areas listed. Worthless.

Insults, disrespect and petty economic paybacks.

(1,115 posts)It was back in '68 at the Grunewald. I called in flares
(ground lighting) over their camp. We had to play these
silly war games. No better place than a park in Berlin!
I am honored to be allied with the French and I think
Macron will be the next allied leader. (Isn't Macron the man
who trashed nationalist Trump? I am capable of screwing
up current events.)

(7,142 posts)who approved the French ambassador laying the wreath on the tomb of the unknown soldier?
I guarantee you that Trump would never have approved it. Was it someone high up in our military? It would have to be would it not?
