In a 'self-defeating and self-incriminating' slipup, Trump just indicated he installed Matthew Whitaker to kill the Russia probe

*President Donald Trump indicated Wednesday that he replaced former Attorney General Jeff Sessions with former US Attorney Matthew Whitaker because he wants Whitaker to hamper the Russia investigation.
*Speaking to The Daily Caller, Trump called Whitaker "somebody that's very respected" and tacked on, "As far as I'm concerned, this is an investigation that should have never been brought."
*The statement is reminiscent of Trump's admission to NBC's Lester Holt last year that he ousted then FBI director James Comey because of the Russia investigation.
*"What is so unusual about Trump is that he publicly forecasts his motivation in a way that is self-defeating and self-incriminating," one DOJ veteran told INSIDER.
*Trump's interview with The Daily Caller comes after a series of bombshell developments in the Russia investigation, indicating that the president is increasingly worried about what the special counsel Robert Mueller has.

President Donald Trump on Wednesday indicated during an interview that he tapped former US attorney Matthew Whitaker to replace then Attorney General Jeff Sessions in order to rein in the Russia investigation.

Speaking to The Daily Caller, Trump expanded on his thought process behind choosing Whitaker to take over as acting attorney general.

"Matthew Whitaker is a very respected man," Trump said. "He's - and he's, very importantly, he's respected within DOJ. I heard he got a very good decision, I haven't seen it."

He added that he "heard it was a very strong opinion," referring to the Justice Department Office of Legal Counsel's 20-page memo justifying Whitaker's appointment as acting attorney general until the Senate confirms a permanent replacement.

is so stupid. His own worst enemy. He will need to be locked in solitary, when he goes to prison. Otherwise, the other inmates will simply stomp him to death, because of his complete lack and inability to relate to other people.

Another on tape admission he obstructed. HE'll next claim he didn't, then accuse Mueller or Democrats spreading false news. Whitaker does anything for him he'll end up in prison , like Nixon's 2 AG's did.

It's truly amazing to me the number of times Trump has been allowed to make over the top comments about this or that report, a report that invariably carries significant weight, and he follows up his BS with "I haven't seen it...but believe me".

In a nutshell, that is just how dumb Trump "true believers" really are that they buy that crap. How the hell can you say something is great or brilliant or whatever if you "haven't seen it"??

They only part of that statement that's believeable is that he hasn't seen it. That I believe, because Trump has never shown any indication in-depth critics thinking, much less reading, his entire life.

Matthew Whitaker’s denial about his company’s alleged fraud just suffered a major blow

New questions are being raised about alleged fraudulent activity at a company where acting attorney general Matthew G. Whitaker served as an adviser. And perhaps more important, the new revelations suggest Whitaker’s previous denials were misleading, at best.

The Washington Post’s Tom Hamburger, Carol D. Leonnig and Rosalind S. Helderman report that Whitaker was aware of such allegations against World Patent Marketing and actually fought back against them when they appeared on a website called the Ripoff Report.

As a member of the company’s advisory board, Whitaker had been told of complaints about the company’s practices, according to two people familiar with the FTC investigation. He did not appear to take any action in response, they said.

In addition, shortly after joining the board in late 2014, Whitaker, a former U.S. attorney in Iowa, personally intervened when a for-profit consumer complaint website posted comments critical of the company.

Ed Magedson, the founder of the Arizona-based Ripoff Report, said he received a phone call from Whitaker in early 2015 after the website posted complaints about World Patent Marketing.

“He threatened me, using foul language,” said Magedson, whose website sells companies a program to improve their reputation among consumers. “He threatened to sue and to ruin my business if I did not remove the ‘false reports.’ ”

Notably, the allegations posted on the Ripoff Report mirror the actual alleged fraudulent activity that had been scrutinized by the Federal Trade Commission.
