Once Dems have the house safely in their competent hands they need to proceed with common purpose.
Impeaching trump should be only a distant goal. About 6 to at most 7 months before the next elections would be ideal for a vote on trumps impeachment. This will put the senate trial and the evidence brought forth in the forefront of voters minds. This time frame would also avoid the suggestion that the impeachment and trial are interfering with the upcoming election.
My belief is that the senate will not convict trump unless he admits to some disturbingly depraved sexual ...well, never mind....they will not convict him. They are afraid of the vanishingly small percentage of voters who are trump deadenders.
Failing to convict trump will lead not only to a blue wave in the senate but to trumps well deserved defeat at the hands of a fed up republic.

(13,877 posts)An embattling, embittering and useless public spectacle of impeachment...leaving DJT looking wronged and put upon and all just to be losers (no Senate conviction) Just. No.

(10,252 posts)I shall practice patience and watch the karma of the House and Mueller investigations unfold. It's not clear to me that Republicans fear Trumpsters nearly as much as they fear Independents and moderate Republicans, who will register again as Republicans to weigh in on the primaries.

(12,344 posts)Trump wants to make every election about him. Trying to impeach right before the election will be fighting on his territory, where we will lose. We should be fighting where he is weakest, on the issues. That's how we won this time. Trump talked about Trump, and we talked about healthcare.
