So, there is no longer a single Republican House seat in New England, or Orange County California? For thirty years we've been talking about 'Reagan Democrats.' That's over now. Let's start talking about 'Trump Democrats.'
Trump Democrats: Moderate, suburban Republicans who used to vote Republican for their (false) platform of national security, low taxes, and 'small' government. They moved to the Democratic Party in 2018 after observing the Republican Party going bat-shit crazy, and becoming a xenophobic, reactionary, Luddite cult of personality.

My (white) dad always voted Democrat growing up, but strongly disliked Carter (Carter was too religious for him) and didn't trust Reagan because the GOP is for the rich, so he ended up voting for John Anderson in 1980. I'm sure many others like him - white men without college degrees - voted for Reagan. He was in the union at his job at a large factory in Connecticut. Back in the late 70s and early 80s, it wasn't him worried about his job being outsourced to Mexico or China, it was worry that it would be outsourced to Florida or Georgia.
