This is a rant, emotional....
Pelosi: Definition - A very strong and intelligent woman who has taken a lot of unwarranted criticism because she is a very strong and intelligent woman.
I support her this term. Tactically - no one has shown better skills. However, I do have a reservations...
Who is her successor? Rep. Fudge certainly is not (off-topic to this thread). Pelosi supports Progressives, but she mentoring one or more successors seems to have eluded her.
And, why couldn't she be from anywhere *but* California? I am extremely grateful each and every day for the blue anchor which is California, but sometimes that anchor seems to be counter-productive in other states...

FYI: Cosmic Cowboy is more a 70's hippie outlook. Doug Sahm, Armadillo World Headquarters type of vibe.

(26,404 posts)What I hear are complaints about what I think is California's biggest positivity - the diversity of people...
Diversity, to me, is probably the biggest strength the US has. But it scares small people.
I fight the good fight - I am from the Republic of Austin. We love California here (except those refugees who screw up our Real Estate valuation - another topic). Maybe it's still ties to our own homegrown State hero - Beto, maybe it's a desire to see other states than the two coasts who lead the fight (Progressive envy?). Maybe it's a desire to hear something other than the 'yeah - but' comments I hear from those brainwashed by Faux News...

(53,853 posts)are all very capable ranking members of their committees appointed by Pelosi so everyone who continues spreading the false narrative that she hasn't groomed a successor needs to stop showing how uninformed they are.
Cummings showed how knowledgeable he is of the protocol ins and outs of House procedure during the Benghazi hearings when he repeatedly pushed back against the repug falsehoods against Hillary Clinton.
And Rep. Shiff has also demonstated his high competence in dealing with and blunting Nunez's trump falsehoods.
And they are just two of the many ranking members she has appointed and nurtured.
question everything
(47,534 posts)Also, he - Schiff, that is - said that if Feinstien will retire, he will run for her seat.

(53,853 posts)that Pelosi hasn't groomed successors when she has appointed many very capable ranking members of House committees?
question everything
(47,534 posts)But I trust her that she will find capable members, who have been around, who know how Washington "works" and how to manipulate it to groom new blood. Perhaps has been doing it but we are not aware of it.
Also, I think that she groomed Joe Crowley but he was defeated by ACO..

(26,404 posts)He's awesome, but not the tactical leader.
Cummings is a maybe. Though I always thought of him as independent of Pelosi for the most part. The only major influence being her support of him in the Benghazi oversight committee.
brush
(53,853 posts)Many have even suggested him for a 2020 candidate. And then there are all the other ranking members Pelosi has appointed.
None of them meet your approval either?
And please acknowledge that your contention that Pelosi hasn't groom any successors is not accurate.

(26,404 posts)Understand, I have never associated any with Pelosi - if they have benefitted from her mentorship, then I missed that - mea culpa.
I love Schiff - he's awesome - just never got the get down in the trenches in the back, smokey room feel from him. He's from California.
This is pure emotion - I want someone from somewhere other than the NE or from the West Coast. I love California and what they have done for the US - especially with the awesome Blue Wave. How has Pelosi helped here?
And to emphasize - I do not support Fudge, nor Bustos. I'm not one to take my cards home just because I did not get what I wanted. Pelosi is extremely smart and talented in her role. She will do well. I'm thinking now is more of what happens after her?

(53,853 posts)it was distributed to many of the candidates who won and made up the blue wave.
She's the biggest fund raiser in the party and has been for years.
That is an under-reported figure...
It made *big* news here when Beto took some of his largesse ($800k+) and gave it back to the Texas Dem party to help with local races. It felt like the only time anyone had made any general investment into our State Party here.
To paraphrase Clapton - Beto is God here.
I know bringing Beto in is a tangent, but Pelosi is unknown here other than as her elected roles... All Politics is local, etc.
