I hadn't seen that portrait of Shirley Chisholm before, but I knew the style looked familiar. The artist is Kadir Nelson. Among other endeavors, he has won two Caldecott Honor Awards for "the most distinguished American picture book for children." (if you have children in your life, his books would make a great holiday/birthday present)
