It isnt just white suburban women who switched to Democrats. Parts of rural and white working class America peeled off too.

First of all, Democrats did not win simply because white women with college degrees rebelled against Mr. Trumps misogyny, sexism and disrespect for women. Nearly every category of women rebelled.
...
In 2016, the white working class men that Mr. Trump spoke most forcefully to as the forgotten Americans gave him 71 percent of their votes and gave only 23 percent to Hillary Clinton. This year, the Republicans won their votes with a still-impressive margin of 66 to 32 percent. But what was essentially a three-to-one margin was deflated to two-to-one, which affected a lot of races.

(8,090 posts)I wish they had realized the con back in November 2016, but I'll take them finally coming to their senses. Keep it rolling -- especially PA, MI and WI -- for those coveted electoral votes in 2020!

(21,677 posts)Why a working-class woman of any race would vote for anyone as elitist, mediaval, and chauvinistic as today's Republicans, is beyond me.
If their motication is racial in nature, I hope they come to understand that to almost all GOP politicians, there's no difference between a poor white woman and the darkest-skinned poor woman they can find.
They're all chattel to them, nothing but. I hope they understand that soon, before it's too late.

With the size of early voting increasing, election day exit polls mean exactly squat. You've missed a large block of highly motivated base voters, so these swings are among a subset of voters.
Not that I don't like it, but lets get real. If this is exit poll data it is corrupt.
