A tax increase tucked into drumpz's tax cut came back to bite Republicans

Democrats swept four Republican-held districts in Orange County, Calif., where at least 40 percent of taxpayers claim the SALT tax break, defeating a pair of Republican incumbents and winning seats vacated by Representatives Ed Royce and Darrell Issa. Those districts include longtime Republican strongholds, like Newport Beach, and rank among the country’s largest users of the state and local tax break.

Representative Barbara Comstock lost a seat in Northern Virginia, where more than half of taxpayers claim the SALT deduction, by nearly 13 points. Representative Erik Paulsen of Minnesota, a huge champion of the tax bill, lost by about the same margin in a district where 40 percent of taxpayers claim the deduction.

“The state and local tax deduction being capped at $10,000 hurt a lot of people in our district and our state,” Mike Levin, a Democrat who won an open seat that was previously held by Mr. Issa, said in an interview shortly before the election.

The tax plan also hurt wealthier parts of red states. Maybe the Surburban people in red states will get a clue and finally realize that voting for republicans hurt them. If that is done, those places turn blue on the statewide level and a lot of districts flip to blue.

The article references the “SALT tax.”
This would be the “state and local tax tax.”

Sililar to “ATM machine” or “PIN number.”

The Uber Rich were overall gifted insanely by the Repug Tax Scam, but the mainstream upper class & the middle class, who pay mortgages/ property tax/ state income tax got bludgeoned by their capping of SALT. The Repugs are so vengeful & stupid that they didn't even consider they were taking serious money away from a huge swath of their traditional voters. The numbers for Repug"SALT Flight" are going to get way worse too when 2018 taxes are filed.
Only Repugs are so economically perverse & incompetent that they would pass a tax bill that rewards their biggest donors while it impoverishes a huge percentage of their historic base. Yep, Repugs made Orange County etc their sitting ducks & the voters responded accordingly.
