My Mom taught me the importance of honesty in dealing with my fellow man

and in judging my own conduct. She acquainted me with the concept of conscience and with the notion that a reputation for honesty and integrity was worth more than material wealth.

I recall her telling me that a good reputation took years of good honest behavior to acquire, but that it could be lost instantly by one dishonest or mean-spirited act which took advantage of others. Once lost, she warned, it would take years to regain and, in some cases, it never could be.

Our national reputation will not be restored in my lifetime and the restoration cannot even begin until we are rid of Trump. Still, I hope that my grandchildren will live in an America that once again has the respect of the world and is looked upon as an example of a vibrant and caring democracy. In the years I have left to me, I hope I can find ways to help make that a reality.

May you know peace and love this Thanksgiving season.

I, too, believe our country’s reputation will not be fixed in my lifetime.

No country or person can really trust us with trump in power. 2020 is seriously important.
