Alabama mall shooting on Thanksgiving turns into what we have always said would happen.. Shots fired with an 18 yr old and 12 yr old hit, all the armed people pulled their guns to defend themselves. Turned out there were a lot of "good guys with guns". Video has been posted of what sounds like guards or people in power telling everyone to run and thundering herds of people ran for the exits. The cops see a black man running with a gun and decide he must be the shooter and killed him. Reports say his father is a local cop and the victim is military. This is really just a mess and I blame being an open carry state as well as possibly poorly trained racist cops. Very sad.

He is probably buying lottery tickets right now as lucky as he got. He left the gun in Santa's workshop and I understood the cops didn't find it themselves. By the time this was figured out, the real shooter was long gone.

5. It doesn't take a genius to figure out that people waiving guns around

after a public shooting is a recipe for disaster. The police may hold some culpability in this case, but the real problem is the number of "good guys carrying guns" who are not trained to respond in shooting emergencies. Anyone pulling a gun in this type of situation is asking to be shot by law enforcement who are not mind readers. I, too, blame open carry laws. Returning to the "Wild West" mentality is not a solution to restoring law and order. The sheriffs of old West towns had gun checking rules in their towns for a reason!

I kept watching the news reports and they only reported the name - never the race.
Kept thinking it had to be a black kid because he was the only fatality.
The cop is now on leave while they investigate. The training in Mississippi must be lacking in certain fundamentals.
