I was shocked at the price, for a 200 sq ft roll the price was over $10.00, needless to say I bought the 75 sq ft roll. I also use it to cover my paint as I do some miniature art work using water based paints and the aluminum foil works the best.

(15,682 posts)$10 for a roll of even the extra strength is double what I've ever paid for a roll of aluminum foil and I live in overpriced OC, Ca.
What state are you in?

(5,325 posts)I'll admit, I don't use a whole lot of foil. Mostly to line a pan or wrap fish for baking.
For storage, I have a FoodSaver and almost all of the material for sealing is reusable. Big money saver over time.

(253 posts)I noticed the increase in the price of aluminum foil, especially at Walmart. At the Dollar store you can get 25 Sq. Ft. or 40 sq. ft for just a dollar. Purchase 4 or five at time and save a few dollars. Supplies may not last long.

(31,261 posts)One brand it makes is Great Northern. But there is a problem with boycotting Georgia Pacific. The union representing workers has gone to the mat with the Kochs, if you boycott, you hurt the unionized workers also. I use Kimberly-Clark TP, but it is a Wisconsin company and I am not sure whether the owner supports Walker and republicans there. But Kimberly-Clark also has unions. I thought about all that while I was buying something to wipe my butt with, in the end I concluded that I should buy what works for me and not base the purchase on politics, at least for TP. The Kimberly-Clark product is solf and has aloe in the paper, it does not tear me up down there.

(31,261 posts)If you have eaten the wrong things and have a severe case of constipation, you can just make a mental image of Scott Walker's or Rick Scott's face while sitting on the potty, severe constipation becomes instant mild diarea (like when you eat a slightly bad taco or something), problem solved and things move on, in many ways than one.

(50,557 posts)Between Trump's aluminum tariffs, the annual pre-holiday run on foil to wrap leftovers and fruitcakes, and all the deplorables making hats out of it, the price has no where to go but up.

(71 posts)Price driven up by all the conspiracy wanks making tin foil hats out of aluminum. Unfortunately mind control rays penetrate aluminum easily, but not tin. Tin foil pretty much disappeared after WW2 =- call it a conspiracy if you wish.

(71 posts)It looks like the US has had an extra penalty tariff against China of 80% on foil about a year ago because of Chinese "dumping" and government subsidies. US foilmakers had claimed unfair after having to shutter plants.

(46,166 posts)Sometimes I want a lightweight foil so I keep the Dollar brand on hand. But for strength the store brands of regular weight are adequate for most home uses.
$10 is a shocking price. I'm not surprised you posted about it.

(25,183 posts)but has the price paid for used aluminum cans gone up because of the tariffs? You would think that would be the case, since the aluminum in the cans doesn't have to be imported, or even created from raw ore, an expensive process.

(155 posts)We reuse pieces of foil at least 5 or 6 times before discarding.
Buy the heavy duty types as they last longer. Wipe clean after use, let dry, then fold and store. Sometimes I put them in the dishwasher wedged between plates.
Also, look for 100% recycled toilet paper. We get a wonderful high quality French brand called Nouvelle for the same price as the major labels.
