Klobuchar says she is still considering 2020 run

BY MICHAEL BURKE - 11/25/18 09:45 AM EST

Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.) said Sunday that she is "still thinking about" running for president in 2020, but hasn't made up her mind.

"Right now, I am just still thinking about this, talking to people. I’m sorry to say I have no announcement for you on your show," she told ABC's George Stephanopoulos during an appearance on ABC's "This Week."

But even as she maintained that she hasn't decided whether to run, Klobuchar pitched herself as a candidate who could perform well in places that President Trump won in 2016 in addition to getting things done in office.

“People are talking to me about this, I think in part because I’ve worked really hard to go not just where it’s comfortable, but where it’s uncomfortable and did well in a number of those places where Donald Trump won," she said.

I like Klobuchar a lot. In a head to head match with Trump, I think we need a scrapper, though hlthe2b Nov 2018 #2

in my opinion.

I think America is looking for someone that is not too close to the inside, but someone different from Donald Trump, to lead the country.

I don't know who that might be?

or at least one willing to (sometimes harshly) push back. Maybe Klobuchar, despite her (quite good) reputation for being a very civil and collegial Senator, can do so. But, maybe she would be a better VP candidate.

Frankly, I can see Kamala Harris being a more effective push back to Trump.

She still has to prove she has the "fire to inspire" in this media age. If she can do that, I see nothing to stand in the way of her candidacy, but that is not a small hurdle to overcome, because it's the key to fundraising.

But she needs to establish a national profile very quickly if she intends to run.

We could do a lot worse and we need to wall off the upper Midwest and Great Lakes with Florida and Ohio looking like bad bets.
