Frank Luntz Asked About His Partisan Past on Fox News: I Dont Know If I Still Consider Myself a Republicanby Aidan McLaughlin | Nov 25th, 2018, 1:48 pm
Frank Luntz appeared on Fox News MediaBuzz with Howard Kurtz on Sunday, and the longtime GOP pollster said he isnt sure if he still considers himself a Republican.
On to discuss partisan rancor and public mistrust in media, Luntz was asked by Kurtz about his work with Newt Gingrich in the 1990s, when then-House speaker Gingrich developed what critics would decry as the roadmap to political polarization. Luntz pushed back on that criticism, pointing out that his work with Gingrich did not overlap with his more distasteful political maneuvers.
Do you regret any of the tactics of your past, and are you now moving to a different place when you talk about I want to spend 2019 finding common ground? Kurtz asked. Thats not Frank Luntz the partisan warrior.
Its hard to be a partisan warrior when you see the damage thats done, Luntz said.
Do you still consider yourself a Republican? Kurtz asked.
I dont know, Luntz replied arguing the policies of Republicans and Democrats in inner cities dont work. Kurtz asked if his move away from the Republican Party had anything to do with Trump, but Luntz demurred.
I dont like the tone and demeanor of either of them, Luntz said.
It sounds like you are becoming an independent without using those words, Kurtz noted.

(34,661 posts)funny how the truth escapes the mouths of despicable persons mouths. He and Karl Rove did more to divide our Nation than anyone.
What we see today is a direct result of the Media and Politicians kowtowing to messaging of this Person.

When I go to GOODProjects Twitter account it defaults to Russian.
I guess they are launching tomorrow.
So, no need for TANF, no need for SNAP. Mentor programs are the way forward apparently.

Always amazes how the Body Politic can be snowed by the likes of Luntz and Rove....

(37,160 posts)Go ahead and consider yourself a Republican, Frank. It's the party you and your pals turned it into.
If you're not comfortable with that, then cut this mealy-mouthed hem-and-haw and make a clean break.
And then go away, you myopic hack. You have poor judgement and shouldn't be anywhere near politics.

(31,261 posts)He used those words to make rabid the minds of those that he wanted to activate to attack democrats. He questioned out patriotism, our understanding of the economy, our belief that people have a true right to self determination as long as they are not attacking the rest of society, he called us weak for caring for the less fortunate.
Not the rabid people that he made that way have welcomed in Nazis and KKK and are now openly showing the hatred that was always just below the surface.
Maybe Luntz is trully sorry, it would be good to see him stop weasel words and do a full mea culpa then sincerely work with us to make things right. Until then he is like the character in the movie where some nuts took over Alcatrez and aimed missiles at San Fran. He led the crazies to where they are, now as he lays bleeding he asks "What have I done?"

(10,721 posts)The ones who still worship at the altar of Saint Ronnie can't seem to accept their complicity. They simply want to go back to using a dog whistle instead of a bullhorn. Because that'll make everything okay again and assuage their guilt.
And by "monster," I mean the Republican Party base (as well as all the so-called "independents" with their bothsidesism). Trump is merely a symptom. Once Trump is gone, the monster will remain. As Obama said, the GOP has been "feeding the base all kinds of crazy for years." The monster must be fed, which is why Republicans hoping to get re-elected don't speak out against Trump except in rare cases. Eventually we'll see the rise of Trump 2.0, a more intelligent and politically-savvy and charismatic demagogue. We best be ready.

(31,261 posts)Just like Kasich. When things were frothing up toward where they are now, Luntz and Kasich were perfectly happy republicans, they actually pushed the nonsense. I will believe Luntz when he go back through all the damage that he has done and say that he was wrong for doing the things that he did, that those things were bad for the country.
Kasich? Before you buy his bullshit, he worked to shutdown unions in Ohio. He pushed and signed legistlation that severely restricted a woman's right to chose what she does to her body. In a special election and the governor's race, Kasich backed the very same candidate that Trump full throatedly endorsed, against TWO democrats that Kadich now says are the type of people that he would like to work with.
"No Labels", "Common Ground", "Bipartisan Caucus". People it is all BULLSHIT!!!!! It amounts to republicans that at one time played footsie with but now have lost their party to the crazies trying to coop and take over our party.
