Anti-migrant sentiment does not come from Neoliberals. Words actually mean things. There are things you can blame neoliberals for, and anti-migrant sentiment is not one of them.

(359 posts)That was nearly synonymous with what's called libertarianism (especially in economic positions).
The populist-left has attempted to turn the term into a slur directed at liberals who they see as insuffiently radical or insuffiently populist.
So the term has become vulgarized and corrupted.

(11,023 posts)If they throw neoliberal out referring to Clinton, or Pelosi, or really any Democrat in Congress, odds are they have no idea what they're talking about.

(268,998 posts)Devalue, deregulate, divest and then die or face more debts. Those are the Ds of neo-liberalism. They have real meaning for ordinary people when governments no longer provide healthcare or a decent education as policy. It has meaning when infrastructure deteriorates before your eyes and the only good roads are the highways for the tourists while you pay ridiculous toll prices to foreign corporations to use roads in your own country.
Please don't get me started. I've watched folks salaries cut in half by devaluation.
I see people die because the drugs they needs cost hundreds for thousand in local currencies because of devaluation.
Then factor in the brain drain where the West comes to our territories to recruit our best and brightest rather than train their own.
