White House Lacks Lawyers to Deal with Democrats

White House Lacks Lawyers to Deal with Democrats
November 26, 2018 at 7:23 am EST By Taegan Goddard

Politico: “The White House counsel’s office is down to a skeletal staff, potentially leaving them unprepared to deal with a flood of subpoenas for documents and witnesses when Democrats take control of the House. The office has been without a permanent leader since ex-White House senior attorney Don McGahn left the administration in mid-October.”

“His replacement, Pat Cipollone, is caught up in an extended background check that’s prevented him from starting.”

“Amid the leadership tumult, the counsel’s office has shrunk to about 25 lawyers… That’s lower than its recent high point of roughly 35 attorneys and well short of the 40 people that some expect it will need to deal with a reinvigorated Democratic party eager to investigate the president’s tax returns and business dealings in foreign countries, reopen probes into Russian election meddling and explore the behavior of a bevy of Cabinet officials.”

To get involved could prove to be disaster for highly respected attorneys. I would assume if this is the case that the caliber of attorneys that would they would attract would be rather inexperienced and perhaps hoping to make a name for themselves. If their top man is Giuliani, then his performance so far leaves much to be desired. I think that Trump may very well rue the day that he ran for the presidency. His demagoguery that bought him he White House will be proven to be a sham. Hopefully it can be righted before he and his cadre of ideologs have done permanent damage to the nation.

razor thin, cap all travel and expenses cost and begin hauling in Melania and Ivanka to explain their spending in front of house sub-committee.

He figured Obama spent like a drunken sailor, so give him what Obama spent.

BTW, I was also a drunken sailor at one time, but I saved more than I spent.

Trump isn't a "businessman". He's a peddler.

He peddles his gaudy apartments to others with similarly low tastes. He peddles bottled water to his own hotels. He peddles steaks. He peddles vodka.

He's a peddler.

Trump, like W, thinks it's there to cover their big fat asses. And Trump still has the Senate to cover up his mistakes....sometimes. Lawyers are just someone else for Mueller to investigate and turn against the traitors.

It will expose much more to the public and may force the Senate to deal more honestly with him. The cover-up will be exposed publically. That will make a difference. There is a reason Comey wants a public hearing.

Under the GOP, the various committees in the house were prevented from actually investigating the issues.

This will not be the case come January.

This WH is more akin to working for a mob boss. It's no wonder they can't fill staff.

And another thing, mob bosses don't like 'big legal staffs.' Too many chances for leaks.

I'm with you, winning the house at most means things can be exposed like the child kidnappings and Red Don's emoluments violations.
