"A very different example of how an empowered Southern woman acts"

Anne Helen Petersen @annehelen 13h13 hours ago
This is pretty remarkable. "Given that our state amplifies the voices of white supremacist women like Cindy Hyde-Smith who reinforce and uphold misogynist policies, I'm glad to be able to provide a very different example of how an empowered Southern woman acts."

Jaz Brisack, the first female Rhodes Scholar from the University of Mississippi, calls Cindy Hyde-Smith a white supremacist on the front page of the Sunday local paper

Seems to me there really great people in the South and really rotten people there too. Sure seems there are not many in-between. Here in the North it takes a while to figure out what someone is about. Doesn't take long in Dixie.

but, hey that's just me

not just the South, but I'm overjoyed with her assessment of CH-S. More power to this young woman, and congratulations for her being selected a Rhodes Scholar.

It's really good to see a young woman standing up for rights that are being actively chipped away.

They're trying to get their "heartbeat" bill passed again. These dullards never seem to learn. I live in New York, and am concerned that fascism is so close to me. I know it will never transfer to New York, which is actually turning more blue, but I never knew Ohio was so right-wing prone until lately. It's pretty scary.

It will be found unconstitutional, but it's still a major battle. That's why I was especially pleased to see a young woman who doesn't dance around the issue, and who isn't afraid to use the word "abortion", as so many are.
