the next couple decades doing the socialite wife and mother thing with their 5 daughters. Then she went into politics at an age when women were considered well over the hill and expected to retire into the background from...the background where they'd been all along. Her own net worth is supposedly $26+M, most of it derived from ownership in his company.

Just wish we went into this long period of explosion of wealth with $50,000 or so to just let explode into real money over the years. We thought we were doing what we should by dutiful but modest autodeposits from paychecks during the years we were blowing everything else on raising our kids. We could have fed them potatoes, dressed them in potato sacks, and gifted them with trusts at 30.

If the stocks are purchased by second parties, she may have no knowledge of the actual stocks that the second parties hold in her name, even if they are on a disclosure that she likely looked at before signing, but how does a person pick out maybe ten stocks from among thousands?

Hillary and Bill Clinton isn't nearly as rich as Pelosi and her husband, but people here on DU were hitting Hillary about owning stock in some mining companies and stock in a company that had something to do with the Keystone Pipeline. It wasn't that Hillary set out to own those stocks, her and her husband likely signed an agreement with a second party investment advisor, with a targeted annual return and some conditions like no stocks of gunmakers, cigarette makers or companies that have a record of profiting from child or slave labor. But even the most thorough ethical investors have gotten tripped up by investing in companies that become public albatrosses around their necks. Tom Steyer's funds invested in companies that polluted at one time, he may not have known about the full extent of the companies activities until they became an issue, and he is a sophisticated financier.

But a person that owns hundreds, or even thousands of stocks IS NOT going to know details about everyone, there could be tens or hundreds that slip by standards that person may hold. Such is life, a person like her has other people managing large pieces of her finances. My guess is someone other than her prepared the financial disclosure and she just looked it over before signing it. What I pointed out is very relevant to the issue, because it is a reality of a person having that type of money.

If you have reason to believe Pelosi’s financial disclosures are false or incomplete, spit it out.

No, her family assets are not in a blind trust, and yes, I have every expectation that her disclosure statements are reviewed by their accountants and are full, complete and current.

Why you insist otherwise is a mystery.

It is likely very complete if it lists actual stocks. What my position is that with her wealth, knowing what stocks she owns becomes difficult, more than likely second parties buy the stocks using general guidance from her.

Since her and her husband are worth around $600 million, I assume that they would have lots of investments that they did not personally make. She is a smart person, she likely eliminated conflicting investments years ago.
