....and false way. Something has to be done, including the possibility of the United States starting our own Worldwide Network to show the World the way we really are, GREAT!

(43,226 posts)I mean, he basically has already outsourced that job to Fox News already, so I'm not sure why he wants to go in house now.
Must be that pesky Shepard Smith, I suppose.

(10,303 posts)CNN is pretty much available worldwide. The chances are that if you take a plane to anywhere in the world and go to a major chain hotel that has some English speaking guests it is highly likely that CNN International will be available on the TV in the room. You might get some others but CNN remains the de facto standard for English language international news.
VOA is unusual when compared to other international broadcasters. They do not have any major domestic operations. Most other international broadcasters do have some domestic output in their home country. Al-Jazeera is an exception to this rule as well, but Qatar is a small country and AJ started out broadcasting to the Arabic speaking world.
Personally I think it would be a good idea to change VOA to a publisher-broadcaster. Another broadcaster (CBS, Disney, Comcast, Fox etc) would produce the programming. It can be done - the UK's Channel 4 News is produced by ITV News. Channel 5 flip flops between ITV and Sky for its news offerings.

(36,911 posts)Fox News appeals to aging white dudes.
I think the younger ones swarm more to social media/far right racist websites (though the streaming access may suck more of them in).
Either way, I also hope it fails miserably.

(9,675 posts)It has a poor opinion of us because there's a Donald Trump in the White House, a Congress full of partisan enablers, policies that threaten our environment and the global economy, human rights violations that tarnish our standing, repeated lies being sold as truths.
The world is well aware of why we are the way we are right now.
