(32,095 posts)Now, that is the epitome of "Prep School Prick." Did that McNaughton clown, who does all those other silly, bullshit paintings, do that one, too? One has to wonder what all of those Bubba cult followers of his think of it. I'm sure none of them would be caught dead even dressed like that, let alone posing for a painting.

I have been trying to think of an analogy of how his mind works. The only remotely comparable thing I can think of is that if you have ever been in a situation that was an emergency and you had to get out. You don't care about anyting except getting out. Why we hear of people getting trampled -- old ladies getting trampled when people are trying to escape. The analogy here is that his ego and his being right is a single focus like getting out is in a chaotic emergency evacuation situation is to normal people.

(3,538 posts)If Fox News had been around in the 70s Nixon wouldnt have had to resign.?
I absolutely believe that. Having a dedicated pro-Republican propaganda channel has done incredibal harm to the USA.

(42,770 posts)1. How can we make more money out of nothing, and someone said let's invent HMOs and make them sound good 4 people while we create new profit and new money out of nothing.
2. How can we use stupid people who never analyze, or read, or research for the truth? Then they came up with right wing propaganda TV and radio. Then they lucked into Facebook.

(42,770 posts)about being audited every single year then why didn't IRS catch anything?
The number two, my accountant will question a legitimate $25 business lunch which is chump change. How did Trump get away with all his shenanigans? Surely doesn't this mean that his accountants were all complicit. And didn't his accountant announce that he was cooperating? Geez everything in this nightmare is new every hour and every hour everyone forgets the s*** he pulled an hour ago.

(22,171 posts)I don't know anything of his returns and what's he's claimed on his tax returns but I suspect taking a double dipping of deductions for the painting is a particular example of taking multiple deductions for the same thing, and I suspect that he's padded his returns w/ lots of such things, such as not disclosing all of his income (which I suspect is very true), and taking tons of illegal write offs/deductions (like this painting, and he still has the painting too).
I hope this will open the gates to further investigate this type of deduction and/or look at his returns more closely. I think that this is the case here.
The IRS has been hamstrung by personnel issues (not fully staffed, as Congress keeps cutting its budget), and getting training and/or skilled accountants is hard to do, when the marketplace for jobs like this in the private sector are more lucrative. The federal pay scale isn't keeping up, nor working for the feds exactly a dream job, as my friends who have worked for the IRS tell me. It's a very stressful job.
Take care.
