The spiraling presidency...

There is a way to escape it.

Not partisanship for Party sake. But bi-partisanship for the country's sake. It is bigger than Party. Enough Democrats and Republicans must come together to solve this problem with the presidency. Some are blind and do not see a "problem" with this presidency. They are irrational.

However, for there to be any type of agreement between the Parties, there must be trust. Each side must put their chips on the table, so to speak. It's called a compromise.

What do the Republicans get from any type of compromise? They get to keep what is left of the Republican Party, as they knew it before Trump. That should be appealing to many. Also, they would be patriots fighting for our country.

What type of compromise might work?

If Democrats promised not to impeach, unless they had the support of enough Republicans to correct the course, might be a good start?

If they could get the votes in the Senate, they would offer Donald Trump the opportunity to resign, rather than be impeached. If there were enough votes in the Senate to convict, I'm sure he would find such an offer very "fair".

Unless the Special Counsel decides to play hardball, with a bunch of subpoenas and indictments, sending it to the Courts, I don't see another way to resolve this dilemma?

Perhaps I have become naive in my old age?

Yes, it may be a bit naive but kudos to you for thinking about how to solve the terrible morass that we're in.

We've got to start somewhere. IMHO, Congress has to take the first steps but self interest rules the members. A very tough nut to crack.
