....John Dean says so. He served time in jail for his part in Watergate. I remember his testimony as he gave it. Yes, he is still alive and giving lectures and he is on political shows discussing his views on Trump. He is 80 years old. I have read his views on Trump and the current mess. Those of us who saw and heard him testify in 1973, believed him above Nixon and the rest of the gang..(even though he was a member of the gang)..I don't have links yet, but I wanted to add this as Cohen goes down and some of the Trump gang goes down. A number of them already have. Since it feels like Watergate, smells like Watergate, reads like Watergate, looks worse than Watergate.I believe in my heart, it will end like Watergate. Trump will have to resign.
....I don't think Dean has said that Trump will resign, (I don't know)but, I still think Mueller will get Trump, as I have said before. When? Leave that up to Mueller. If?...Many of us are saying this is a done deal. Trump will go down, just like Nixon... Why? The proof will come out, and is coming out now, just like Watergate in 73 and 74. Trump and his family are toast, burnt toast. I believe the entire gang will end up in jail. (including some unsuspected gang members who we didn't know were gang members)...Thank You for reading this..

(131,197 posts)Worse than Watergate: The Secret Presidency of George W. Bush is a 2004 book by author and Watergate figure John W. Dean. Dean criticizes the secrecy employed by US President Bush and his Vice-President Dick Cheney, depriving citizens of the ability to make informed decisions, and draws parallels with the government of US President Richard Nixon for whom he served as legal counsel. He also draws attention to potentially serious issues that, as of 2004, had been given a low profile in the US media. In particular, he notes that the 18 March 2003 presidential determination, a condition of the legislation which authorized the 2003 invasion of Iraq, failed to satisfy the terms imposed by Congress and consequently would justify impeachment.

(38,453 posts)The war in Iraq killed about 150,000 people, and 5600 U.S. soldiers. It is a very sad story. War must be avoided if possible. It kills lots of innocent people. I hope we do not go there.

(10,252 posts)We old Boomers remember well the lead up to Nixon's Watergate demise, his resignation, his farewell speech, his flying off in the helicopter. And this fiasco is really really much worse, especially in the light of all the dreadful things that Trump as done in office.
We boomers are on our way out of this life. It's up to you now to fix the government so that another Trump doesn't arise.

(11,752 posts)Watergate was about the re-election of Nixon. The real scandal in the Nixon administration was relatively unknown until recently. The Chennault Affair where Nixon had the peace talks with Vietnam sabotaged to sway the 1968 election, that was treason. That extended the war another 5 years and cost thousands of American and Vietnamese lives.
As mentioned by other posters, Bush's scandals were also worse than Watergate. Bush and company lied us into Iraq costing at least 4000 American deaths and more injured and traumatized as well as tens of thousands or more Iraqi lives. He also stole the election that made all of that suffering possible.
Trump's situation is worse because he desecrated the office of presidency by conspiring with a hostile government to steal an election for their personal gain.
Don't forget Reagan. He also committed treason and violated laws to steal the election from Carter with the Iran Hostages which lead to the Iran-Contra affair.
