"When they go low we go high"

Yes, many of us roll our eyes but still...

Some day, Presidents Carter, Clinton and Obama will die. Some of us will no longer be here to mourn their passing.

No doubt, the other side will cheer, list all their failures - real and imaginary.

We, should, however, expect all of us to at least respect the Presidency (present occupant excluded). All have served the country in public offices, the way they saw fit.

Thus, we should stop criticizing Bush I. No we did not like him, did not vote for him and we do not have to say good things about him. But we should respect the office and, at least, when it is time to mourn our presidents, we should at least be able to point to our reaction to the other side. Perhaps something will stick.

Maybe...

Honestly, nothing we do here is going to effect how the deplorables react to Democratic leaders dying.

If nothing else he has brought out everyone’s patriotism and love of country like no one else has in our living memory. Maybe ever. It doesn’t matter what side you’re on.

Trump serves as a living and dynamic catalyst to our open fight for what this country stands for.

I also think the blue wave just established the future outcome for us. We’ve opted to have a country that moves into a better future for all instead of a dystopian future of inequality and oppression.

I've had the tv off most of the time this past week or two, anyway. I did catch the last of Meacham's comments on Bush the other night, and I give him props as a good historian. I listened to what he had to say with some interest, and reflected how little I had liked Bush Senior while in office, how much I had let it ruin my digestion, and how little I knew the man.

That is all. Say what you will (and I have said plenty in my time) he was a far better man and far better president than the current occupant of the WH. He genuinely loved this country and tried to serve it.

I hope to outlast Trump and see his family empire lie in ruins at his feet. For him I will grave dance. He genuinely hates democracy and sees this country as just another piece of real estate to be bought and sold.

This is a message board.

People can say what they want.

I suspect the Bush family are not regular visitors to DU.

Who are we worrying about offending? Charlton Heston/John Huston God?

The BFEE was a daily topic of conversation here for the first 8 years of DU's existence.

I'm never, ever going to stop criticizing them.

I don't care what the deplorables do. Bush I was a horrible, corrupt person and dying doesn't make him any better.

It was almost all we talked about for the first 8 years of this board's existence.

In fact, it was established BECAUSE OF the Bush family and their crimes.

To say that we're supposed to not criticize one of these monsters is laughable. It's why the website exists in the first place.
