Krugman: Is the Putin regime cutting its losses because they expect Trump to be destroyed soon?

Krugman was responding to this Twitter thread from Julia Davis about Russian state media turning on Trump:

Krugman's tweet:

The Putin regime is acting as if it's time to distance itself from its puppet. Trump hasn't been standing up to Putin, so are they cutting their losses in the expectation that he will soon be destroyed? They would know ...

He became pretty much useless to them once the intelligence communities went public with the info that they had intervened in the election to help Trump and hurt Clinton. Anything he did after that would be met with suspicion.

Putin is kicking the Trumpster to the curb. But . . .

the stink will stick because Pootie made a bad wager on the Squatter-in-Chief. As Trump is exposed so will his head handler be spotlighted.

May they both rot in Hell!

I think we all knew that Putin would cast Trump aside once he'd served his purpose. I don't think there is any advantage for Putin to support Trump anymore.

Trump should count himself his lucky, as Putin has been known to treat his castoffs much more brutally.

will get the sanctions lifted?

Pence also is not as greedy as trump so the vig on the Saudi nuclear power stations won't be so high.

Putin is simply doing what he should have done (from a tactical point of view) before the election: Distancing himself from Trump in order to discredit the incontrovertible evidence of collusion.

If Putin ever TRULY turns against Trump, you'll know about it without having to translate any Russian-language websites. Remember, the right-wing bots populating Twitter and many comments sections largely operate out of St. Petersburg. If Putin really wants to bring an end to Trump, the international Alt Right movement will reflect that new reality.

These means that we can use Infowars as a weathervane. If Infowars, Breitbart and QAnon turn against Trump, then and only then can you be sure that Putin has turned against Trump.

What you're seeing right now is a propaganda exercise, and I'm surprised that a person of Krugman's caliber fell for it. Pretty soon, the trolls of St. Petersburg are going to flood the twitterverse with a deceptive message: "Russian TV hates Trump. This PROVES that there was no collusion! The real collusion was between Putin and Hillary!"

Watch it happen. Hell, it's probably happening right now.
