and priced in Euros, so that conversion isn't the easiest thing to do. Thank you for helping us to keep perspective.

Just take the price per liter (€1.43 yesterday), multiply by 1.14 for dollars, and then multiply by 3.7875 for a gallon.

You're right, the math is simple. The hard part, for me, anyway, would be memorizing those conversion factors. I'm sure it would be easier if I used it frequently, but at my age, my brain balks at being asked to learn new tricks.

As a Texan in the Rheinland, it is a very old trick for me! Besides, as I am paid in dollars but have to pay the bills in euros, I have to keep track of that kind of thing.

My family roots are in/around the Midlands and I still visit there very often. I always find the gas prices in Lexington are about 20-40 cents less a gallon than they are in the metro ATL area.

Keep up the good fight and have a good Tuesday!

had $2.08 I think displayed. I'm not holding my breath to see that here in Idaho, but it's getting close to going below three bucks a gallon anyway. I have a Silverado with a tank that lasts me two months as little as I drive. I have a couple weeks until I need to fill it up. I think that might be good timing.

What we bought in 1970, has gone up five times, maybe six. I guess it depends on how one looks at it.
In the 60s it was 35 cents a gallon, but a car cost under $2000...Maybe under 1800. It really is hard to determine. But people don't look at it like that. Oh well?

Low gas prices mean less road tax, so worse roads. They also lead to people buying larger cars/trucks that get worse milage and add more pollution to our planet, and cause more road damage. And low prices lead to local/state government not supporting more mass transit because gas is so inexpensive, who would use it? Yep I like low prices, but I fear they lead to more problems in the long run. FYI, I don't have a hybrid or electric car, so low gas great for my pocket book.
