"Fiscal conservatism" which was never more than words while blowing up the actual debt,
"Entitlement reform," another empty and misleading catch phrase,
Strong defense versus Russia...
In short Scar and guests (can't remember the one fellow's name, meant to look him up) were saying Unindicted Co-Conspirator and his cult followers are not conservative which is true, they are.fascists. But I am somewhat amused, encouraged, and horrified (all at the same time) by Scar's attempt to distance himself.from contemporary Republicans.
"Supply-Side Economics." "Creation Science." The Southern Strategy. "Welfare queens." Swiftboat liars. Willie Horton. "Strict 'Constitutionist,'" meeting when President Obama was to be inaugurated and vowing to obstuct everything to make Obama look bad regardless of cost. Gerrymandering. Interstate cross check. Invading Iraq because it had WMD. .. Don't forget torture. Oh and the NRA and its tobacco industry tactics. Oh and climate science denialism.
Joe Scar and guests seriously think they espoused facts and truth? Yes Unindicted Co-Conspirator is much worse than previous Republican liars but he is not new. Republicans have been liars for a long time and now Joe Scar cries because Unindicted Co-Conspirator is a more prolific liar and a criminal?
Joe is at least on the right side. Michael Steele was more reserved and apparently more humbled, if not inclined to call out Scar's bombast. I wish I knew who the other fellow was.

(17,276 posts)Power tends to corrupt and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Great men are almost always bad men, even when they exercise influence and not authority; still more when you superadd the tendency of the certainty of corruption by authority.

(4,463 posts)... traditional republicans. He just doesnt cover it up very well. He found a base that likes the ugly, unvarnished face of American facism, and hes rolling with it.
Republicans have always been trump. They just never wanted the world to realize it.

(11,746 posts)Most often that term is used, in my opinion, to mean "my 'freedom' to overtly express my racism." Unindicted Co-Conspirator "freed" them. That's all.
As you said, he found a constituency. He is, after all, a grifter. In fact Scar and his panel used the term "grift conservatism."
