NC-09: 1,000 Absentee Ballots May Have Been Destroyed

Over a thousand absentee ballots from likely Democratic voters may have been destroyed in the race for North Carolina's 9th Congressional District last month as allegations of fraud on behalf of the Republican candidate mount.

“You’re looking at several thousand, possibly 2,000 absentee ballot requests from this most recent election. About 40 percent of those, it appears, at this point may not have been returned,” Wake County District Attorney Lorrin Freeman told CNN.

The report comes after Rep. Gerry Connolly (D-Va.), the vice ranking member on the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, called for an emergency hearing regarding allegations of voter fraud.

electoral fraud. The voters weren't deceptive; the officials collecting and disposing of votes were the culprits.

And yet . . . the Republicans are all but silent about the NC situation. Surprising, No? When fraud in elections is such a hot topic in GOP circles.

Hypocrites!

The wave had to be huge just to overcome the ridiculous gerrymandering. As the GOP's membership shrinks, the only way they can win is through bending the rules, otherwise known as cheating, be it voter suppression or (as is the apparent case here) blatant ballot tampering. Yet if you read any of the right-wing blogs, Republicans are convinced they need to do what they do to 'protect the vote.' Because according to the upside-down thesis, the Democrats are the 'real' cheaters.

Talk about projection! You know all those people who are changing outfits in their cars so they can vote multiple times or the busloads of illegal immigrants swarming the polling stations, etc., etc. People believe this stuff.

It's truly nuts.

but no discussion of options. Anybody know? Who can nullify the vote and call a new election? I presume the aggrieved candidate could do that in court.

. . . with a reporter covering the story in Charlotte. Search CNN (I think, right?) for Cilizza's byline (sorry I can't lay my hands on a link ATM). It was a good interview and laid out the possibilities that both North Carolina officials and the Democratic majority could call for a new election.

I’ll roll out a good quote from Stalin: It doesn’t matter who the people vote for. What matters is who counts the votes.

I know it goes back to 2014 so I wouldn't surprised if it is longer than that. GOP crooks can't win anything without cheating, lying and stealing. I can't wait for the Greedy Old white man Party dies out with the other dinosaurs.

Apparently, this guy, McCrae Dallas plays a leading part in this whole business and it seems to be his specialty. Why hasn't this guy been brought in for questioning regarding this crime AND why hasn't he been banned from EVER working on future election campaigns. Just like a child molester is banned from working around children, unless you are a priest , or course, why is this guy allowed to work on elections campaigns. This is a crime and he needs to be held accountable.

14. There are a LOT of races on a ballot
Thu Dec 6, 2018, 04:06 AM

Okay, we know the GOP in District 9 was scheming specifically to throw the Congressional election to the GOP. Thing is, very few people are going to take a ballot and only mark one race. And except for the presidential race, even fewer people are going to vote for one candidate of Party A and the rest of the ballot for Party B. (NC is a weird state in that people will vote for the Republican presidential candidate then choose Democrats for the rest of the ballot.)

So we have two other issues here:

1) How many other Republican winners in NC-9's area wouldn't have won if this batch of ballots hadn't been dropped into a shredder?

and

2) Do they really expect anyone to believe the whole state, with the exception of District 9, ran a clean election?

What needs to happen is for the entire 2018 election to be thrown out in NC and redone, and the NC GOP needs to pay for it.
