The GOP-controlled Legislature has been working with Walker to make sure that the incoming governor and attorney general, who are both Democrats, wont have as much power as their Republican predecessors.
Theyve passed a series of bills in a lame-duck session that amount to nothing less than a brazen partisan power grab, taking responsibilities away from the governor and attorney general and giving them to the heavily gerrymandered Wisconsin Legislature. Walker is expected to sign them in the coming days.

(63,846 posts)and in NC is horrible and illegal. Democrats won fair and square and the people have spoken, but the GOP is so dirty and ruthless.

(1,379 posts)But one correction, the Democrat Tony Evers won fair and square, but so did the Republic House and Senate in Wisconsin.
The voters obviously wanted a change in the Executive chair, but not in the Congressional chairs.
Yes that may be due to gerrymandering, but the elections were fair and square, and now the State has a truly divided government.
I am not saying its a good outcome (it isn't), but it's not illegal either. Maybe next time the voters won't vote for divided government.
After January, Tony Evers can veto everything, before that time it's still in Walkers hands. Walker was elected for 4 years, not 3 years and 8 months. It sucks, but that's how it works.

(4,032 posts)they have the unmitigated gall to stand in front of a television interviewer and CLAIM that they are just trying to level the playing field. What a crock.
This is throwing mud in the face of the WI electorate who overwhelmingly voted against the Republican Party, its platform, and its representatives in the last election (54% to 46%) yet gerrymandering still carried the day for them. Level playing field, my ass. Cowards to say the least.

(5,526 posts)With the exception of reacting to seriously unexpected circumstances, there should not be any.
When a person is fired in the private world, they are often escorted off the grounds. This is because nothing good can come of keeping them around. At best, they will not be productive. At worst, they will be a vindictive source of headache.
We should expect no less from our Government. Sad that we have to think that way but this is what it has come to.

The AG and the Governor will unseal all John Doe bullshit and implicate every single Republican, indict them, and then sentence them consecutively in the worst prison in all of Wisconsin. (25+ years in Racine Correctional with SHU orders for the next 25 years)
