Reminder Congress, FBI & other gov agencies knew of Trump's illicit Russia ties WELL BEFORE election

Nearly everything being presented as a "revelation" is something that was warned about and ignored.
Here's Harry Reid in 2016 on Comey ignoring the threat.

Here is what Harry Reid wrote to James Comey about Trump-Russia collusion. US citizens deserve to know. http://www.reid.senate.gov/press_releases/2016-10-30-in-letter-reid-says-comey-may-have-broken-the-law#.WDmfGnTnbqA

1. Not necessarily ignored. There's a reason we've got such good intel on Trump-Russia comms.

The national security demands:

It’s absolutely not as simple as “let it happen” or not. An election took place, civil unrest did not explode across the country, the appointment of a special counsel and initiation of a host of investigations took place, sanctions against Russia remained, and the incompetence of Trump has increasingly led America to repudiate him, as we learn more and more of what the IC already knew. We now have a Democratic majority incoming in the House, with all the investigative powers that means - and the US government, despite the seismic shocks and SCIF skips, has not fallen. That may well have been the level of existential concern the IC faced.

Believe it or not, imho this is the path that leads to an outcome that ensures the strongest US democracy.

He is an opportunist and saw an opening that would serve his desired outcome of the election. Comey is far from having clean hands.

or some horrid, Lovecraftian creature from the abyss...

I imagine there were conversations along the lines of "holy shit, what do we do? if people find out about this, our entire nation and all of our fundamental structures of government and democracy will be seen as a complete farce! I guess we'll just have to keep on acting like everything's ok so that people don't panic...."

I imagine similar conversations happening about climate change.

And a couple of other topics....

Not only the FBI but also others know about large-scale criminal fraud at Trump University and his income tax evasion. However, I think income tax evasion falls under I.R.S. jurisdiction. Did you read about tRump cutting I.R.S. funding?

absolutely knew and buried it. It was the wishes of the elite right wingers. GOPers knew and to date does nothing about it. There purpose of owing the courts, especially US SC was more important than the welfare the country in whole, plus they truly wanted tax cuts for the upper class while screwing the working middle class and poor.

Voter suppression, gerrymandering, outright theft, cheating, stealing.

Taxation without representation.

I think it was quite obvious before the1972 election that it was much more than an amateur rogue operation, but nobody said anything and people voted for Nixon because they hated McGovern.

And makes Comey’s “revelation” re: Clinton investigation that much more abhorrent.

17. McConnell
Sat Dec 8, 2018, 01:35 PM

President Obama went to McConnell to craft a bi-partisan statement and McConnell told Obama he would have no part of such a statement and he further stated if he decided to do this on his own he would deny it is true and charge it is a political ploy to get Clinton elected President.

At the same time McConnell was refusing to hold hearings on Supreme Court nominee Merrick Garland. McConnell would do anything to deliver that Supreme Court seat to Trump. Winning was everything. Criminal activity wasn't even a speed bump to McConnell.
