A question about yesterday's Comey testimony

Why did the Republicans insist on having the hearing knowing that they would be releasing a transcript? It doesn't make sense.

The text of the hearing is more damning for the Republicans than the optics of a televised hearing would ever be. They illustrate the political direction of the Republicans' questions and that finding facts wasn't their objective.

I don't get it.

Any ideas?

That just sounded soooo stupid to me with everything going on now. I hope it does to most Americans. Who knows?

BTW if I was Comey I would want to answer every question with "The president speaks to Russia on an unsecure phone"

Especially given how inept all of Trump's minions were in their use of electronic devices. Nearly every email and text these idiots sent or received is in Robert Mueller's office.

They are complete idiots.

3. My only guess is that they know a written transcript takes effort and time to read and digest.

The GOP knows this and may believe their own base too lazy to read anything that's longer than a meme. Transcripts don't make for the most exciting news clip for the sub-literate. My only guess is that they know a written transcript takes effort and time to read and digest by concave brains who will simply watch RW news to find out what it contains.

The hearing wasn't good for the GOP, but they can tell their people "No need to read it. We kicked their asses. Go back to sleep..."

The facts are coming out. Even the idiots will have to realize Trump is a criminal.

You very well may be right. They're desperate and they see the walls closing in.

Of course, when the new Congress is in session, there will be open and honest probing investigations.

By the way, when I typed assholism the spellchecker indicated it isn't a word. Stupid Republican spellchecker.

My spell check flagged "assholism", too... But, I couldn't think of anything better at the moment.

That's how my college roommate determined when the pasta was ready.

I didn't eat with him often.
