NY Times’ Maggie Haberman: Today’s Bombshell News ‘Politically Very Damaging for the President’
by Tamar Auber | Dec 7th, 2018, 8:59 pm 251

During a CNN panel discussing the bombshell news that President Donald Trump‘s former fixer Michael Cohen met with a Russian who offered “political synergy” to the Trump campaign, the New York Times‘ Maggie Haberman pointed out that this looks bad for the president.

“That seems like integrating two different things,” Haberman said. “I know the president repeatedly says no collusion. We don’t know who this official was. There’s a lot we don’t know about what this is describing. Although, it might refer to some previous reporting in BuzzFeed.”

She then added that it makes it hard not to see it as a collaboration. “Synergy sounds a lit collusiony.”

Former US Attorney for the Southern District of New York Preet Bharara then quipped, “I think it’s a Harvard Business school term for collusion.”

Haberman then stressed that this whole thing could be “politically very damaging for the president.”.....................................

though, and spitting it right out doesn't further it. I seldom even glance over her columns.

As for the rest, though, let's face it, some waffling just has to be. No doubt it sometimes gives journalists a headache too, even when they know all the good reasons for it.

"Conspiracy to collude" IS a crime and is the same thing...choice of words is splitting hairs.

The Southern District of NY will nail his fat ass and his skinny daughter's ass, her husband's and her brothers' as well.

It wasn’t that long ago that nearly every Trump tweet included a NO COLLUSION! But those have become few and far between since Giuliani came up with “collusion isn’t a crime.” The thing is, collusion IS a crime, if you collude with somebody to break a law. That’s called “conspiracy.” You can’t get out of a crime by finding a synonym. “I am not guilty of murdering the victim. I merely killed her! And there’s no such thing as first degree killing!!!” If that were the case, all any criminal defense lawyer would need is a thesaurus. “My client didn’t steal the iPhone. He pilfered it. I demand that he be released forthwith!” This is the kind of insult to everyone’s intelligence that Trump specializes in.

I hope statements and news like this is 24/7 until it sinks in. We had to listen to "Lock Her Up" and "her emails" every freakin' day, so now it's our turn. We need to hound the Trump family criminals right out of DC.

How about "criminally liable"? The President of the United States is committing crimes, and all you're worried about is the political aspect of it? You're pretty goddam secure in your privilege that this criminal administration isn't going to have a negative effect on your life.

She’s looking at it from a traditional political stance. Not from the Republican cult standpoint.

It’s so easy to just shrug and say, no big deal whether it’s a big deal or not.

Imagine you're a journalist or pundit at this moment in history -- it's as frightening to them as it is to us, and so they all flatten out and stay purely legal and as logical as possible because holy cow the president is a traitor and the law is about to hit the fan, and hard.

They're talking the way legal professionals talk, and I understand why -- because a truly scientific legal dissection is utterly important here. We have to root this out, but it's scattered all throughout the society in bits and pieces, like a cancer. This is surgery, and it's serious business.

A large chunk of the nation has atavised and is contemplating Full Barbarism, and they're coordinating with bad actors around the world. There's no win for either side here. It's going to cost us. We have to get it right just to survive as a representative democracy.

So, not the Onion after all.

Bloom's The Lucifer Principle talks about how quickly groups can shift allegiance once the pecking order is disturbed.

And it is disturbed today.
