Grave disappointment

related to a woman who I do business with.

She's in her 70's, and she's a sweetheart. She feels that politics should not be discussed ever, because it can only lead to arguments. Funny thing is, I can remember several casual conversations that we had years ago in which she hinted at her disdain for GWB. She did not come right out and directly criticize him, but I understood where she was coming from.

She must have let her guard down the other day.

At the end of our recent conversation, some topic lead to her saying..."it's like those assholes who disrespect our flag by...".

I cut her off and got the hell out of there. I have been picking my battles lately, and I wasn't about to get into it with her. I usually slap people down with ease and pleasure. I couldn't do it with her. She confides in me, and she has gone through a lot of personal suffering lately.

Fuck you Trump. Fuck you for poisoning minds. Karma is coming for you, you shapeless blob of shit.

A co-worker some years back was a real sweet lady, didn't openly have a mean bone in her body. If she's won the lottery, she would have opened an animal shelter and supported local charities.

But she was a variety of religious that made her ripe for becoming a Glenn Beck fan, and he couldn't say a bad word, in her lights. So she had a sign on her cubicle that she was "one of the right-wing radicals you've heard about" after Beck scare-mongered about that report released early in the Obama administration about domestic RW threats (of the Timothy McVeigh variety). Beck said it was a scam to demonize ordinary conservatives, and she swallowed it.

I can't even finger overt racism against Obama for it: she went to a predominantly black church. At her funeral, the minister and about 3/4 of the congregation was black.

Don't let any of these vandals of public discourse off the hook.

I understand completely. My stepson JUST left my home 3 hrs ago. We had supper last nite. In order to keep peace, I had to chew my tongue to a pulp. You are right...he has poisoned minds.

Most of the disrespect for the flag (and democracy and the country) comes from the RW operatives and their slobbering idiot following.

But, I expect you read her correctly. Sad.

and have people that I hang out with that support trump. I have managed to get along by using what I learned in college.

Went back to school on my 40s and my minor was Anthropology. I loved the subject. I try to approach others as an anthropologist would. I try not to judge or challenge their views, only study them. Works great for me. I see the tribal influence they fall into. I would hope there are current anthropologist writing volumes on the subject now so we can understand them better.

This has really helped me in these crazy times. Many of them are nice human beings, other than politics.

I try to do the same thing.

I believe there is a very large group of Americans who are predisposed to adult gullibility because they don’t really question anything about their lives or life in general. It has nothing to do with whether they are otherwise nice and decent people. Someday science will discover why.
