1. Well, it's not exactly the same.

Whittaker is Trump's Acting AG. They have reason to meet together. The Bill Clinton/Lynch meeting did not have that relationship.

Trump can freely meet with his own cabinet and staff. There's no rule against that at all.

4. But, it was Bill Clinton. He wasn't the President at the time.

Hillary was running, of course, but Bill Clinton had no political office. Former Presidents aren't Presidents.

It wasn't a question of Obama meeting with Lynch.

I guess I should have said if it was ANY Democrat, the repukes would be having their usual fit.

The entire situation with -45 is just so far outside of normal. It really doesn't "look right" that -45 is sharing a plane ride with the person who is the superior of the person who is presumably investigating -45.

6. There is nothing normal about Trump.

Everyone he meets with is involved in trying to cover up his activities. But, there's no way to stop him from meeting with his staff and cabinet members. Tt's a bad situation all around.

7. kushner is not president.

in a democratic administration, someone in kushner's position (spouse of someone under investigation and/or under investigation himself) would have been told under no circumstances to have any communication with doj other than to cooperate with any investigation, and to report any such contacts.

and republicans and the media would hold him to those standards and would howl at any other encounter such as the one cited in the o.p.

even if a democratic president were to have a conversation with the attorney general, republicans and the media would speculate about what they were talking about, and insist that there were credible rumors of inappropriate topics being discussed or pressure being applied. they might reluctantly acknowledge that the president has the right to have normal conversations, but they would still insist that they "know in their gut" that something foul is going on somehow.

8. Kushner has a position, albeit unpaid, on Trump's staff.

As such, he isn't breaking any laws by traveling with Trump and the acting AG, either.

It's complicated.

9. i'm not saying he's breaking laws, but he is breaking ethical standards to which democrats are held,

and to which republicans are not.

if i were president and had such a situation on my hands, i would instruct the person in kushner's position to steer clear of the doj. i've got plenty of other advisors to make any such contacts that might be needed.

10. Trump doesn't think that way at any time.

He has no ethical compass at all. No ethical questions have any impact on what he does.

He is morally and ethically bankrupt. Financially, too, I think. This will all not end well for him, and he will deserve all that is coming to him, unless he drops dead suddenly.

shrub or poppy or reagan -- or rmoney or mccain -- might have done something similar and the media would not have batted an eye.

He's worse than Nixon ever was. He's worse than any President I can remember. We won't know how bad until he's out of office and all the facts are known.

their side owns most of the media in this country which makes it much easier for them to set the narrative.
