Jennifer Rubin: Trump will resign 10 minutes before next inauguration so Mike Pence can pardon him

Conservative Washington Post columnist Jennifer Rubin predicted over the weekend that President Donald Trump will resign 10 minutes earlier than planned, giving Vice President Mike Pence the opportunity to pardon him.

On Sunday, political analyst and politicians suggested that the Department of Justice may be waiting until Trump leaves office before indicting him for campaign finance violations, obstruction of justice or other crimes.

But according to Rubin, Trump has already devised a plan to thwart any attempt at indicting him. During an interview on MSNBC, Rubin pointed out that Justice Department rules against indicting a sitting president have never been litigated.

this also does not remove the rather huge and significant charges coming to Trump and his family and organization at the State level.

Given the immediacy of such as maneuver as being proposed, this would imply pre-planning.

I keep seeing a scenario where Trump resigns, then Pence tells him "Nope. Changed my mind. Buh-bye chump."

i agree that it wouldn't get him out of state-level charges, but why on earth wouldn't he do this to make the federal-level charges go away?

That said, I doubt it will play out the way Rubin predicts.

although i gave pence up to 24 hours. i assumed that pence would insist on enough time to sign some b.s. executive order or two as well as have at least one overnight in the white house as potus.

What are the procedures? I am guessing she doesn't really mean 10 minutes before but maybe a day or so before so Pence can properly be placed in. That would be so bizzare having Pence President for only a few minutes or a day.

trump* resigns, pence* BRIEFLY becomes POTUS, pardons trump*, new POTUS takes oath.

At least that's the way I read it.

There's nothing preventing Pence from having a 10 minute Presidency, with his only action being pardoning Trump.

Ten minutes may be an exaggeration, but it would only need to nt long enough for him to be sworn in and then sign the pardon.

But he won't succeed. HE'll either resign , or be unable to because of serious health conditions, because he looks like he's not well at all , and probably hiding many medical conditions he's lied about to the American people. If he were to make it , and actually run , he'll let ivanke be his VP, then let her pardon him, then re-install pence as VP.
